Isaiah lost his tooth. He had decided to tie a piece of dental floss around his tooth, and then tie the other end to an eggplant colored, wooden, kiddie chair that sits in our living room. He carried the chair with him everywhere. I don't think that he really wanted to lose that tooth. Niah was handing me the camera to take a picture...it was so silly to see him, lip curled up over the string attatched to that chair. At that moment, he forgot and turned his head. The silence of the moment was broken only by the sound of enamel skittering across our wood laminate flooring. Joe and I stared at one another in disbelief, and then looked at Isaiah who sat with mouth slightly agape, gazing at the string hanging from the chair. It was then the blood curdling screams began, and a mad dash to the bathroom ensued to blot the blood that oozed from the empty cavity that once held the oddly shaped front, upper tooth. Several moments passed before he was able to proudly smile at his reflection.
Bedtime came easily last night. A sweet boy laid his head on a pillow that covered an envelope housing aforementioned tooth with the words proudly printed in green crayon, "Isaiah tooth".
