Rev. Kerry Mitchell Fralic
May 11, 1951 to September 6, 2006
Taylorsville, NC – Rev. Kerry M. Fralic, 55, went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2006, at the Valley Nursing Center, Taylorsville, NC, after a period of declining health due to diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, and vascular dementia. Pastor Fralic served as a pastor in the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church since 1981. He served at Nesbitt’s Chapel UMC in Fairview, Edneyville and Fruitland UMC’s near Hendersonville, Abernethy Memorial UMC in Rutherford College, Conover First UMC, and Center UMC in Denton.
Pastor Fralic was born in Toledo, Ohio, and lived in Wellston, Michigan for the first 17 years of his life. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Microbiology and Public Health; from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary near Boston, MA with a degree in Religious Education specializing in youth ministry; from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, with a Masters of Divinity. He served on staff with Young Life, a ministry with high school students before becoming a pastor in The United Methodist Church.
Along with a heart for ministry, Pastor Fralic was a State of North Carolina Master Beekeeper, an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed leading mission building teams for The UMC for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale W. Fralic. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Katherine Sutton Fralic of Claremont, NC, and his children Jeremiah and Olivia Fralic of Ladera Ranch, CA, and Jessica and Garrett Miller of Hickory, NC. He also is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jan and Jack Aussicker of Taylorsville, NC, and Zeeland, MI; siblings Rusty and Dixie Fralic of Pinedale, WY; Jody and Vic Winstrom of Holland, MI; Tomi and Joe Bystrom of Holland, MI, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pastor Fralic’s first grandchild is due to be born this month in California. When the baby and his mother are able to travel to North Carolina, tentatively in early October, a celebration of life service will be held at Conover First United Methodist Church with inurnment following at the church columbarium.

I think community is a wonderful thing, and I'd like people to be less cynical about church, not THE church, but the institution that we call the church. I think soul patches, piercings and tattoos are kinda cool; attitudes are not. Sometimes I lie in bed and think about weird things.. like why I like the taste of bubblemint gum, but despise the taste of our youngest son's bubblemint flavored toothpaste, or if our older children have already met their future spouses, how amazing it is that I've been married to the same man for thirty-two years, and why dryer lint looks the way it does. I hate having cold feet, being too hot, and stubbing my pinkie toe. I like to read pretty much anything but angsty poetry, well no I lied..not about the angsty poetry, but I don't much like to read biographies either. Laundry is the bane of my existence, along with cleaning out the refrigerator, and just plain cleaning.
